Happy New Year.
Was doing some work recently, and I suddenly lost motivation when I realized this was going to be very challenging. So I decided to take a break and started flipping through my old work then books then emails then and even text messages.
I found this picture:

When the going gets though the though get going
This mousy, probably even got hurt a few times trying to get the cheese. But see he’s back prepared with a helmet.
When I saw this I laughed, then I realized that even though I did not feel I could solve the challenge the first time, at least I will have eliminated one possibility.
Along with strength from the Lord, this quote by Thomas Edison summaries how I intend to tackle challenges this year:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Yes that would be one wii for me please! November 12, 2006

Just preordered my wii from virgin megastores (in shop only).

My experiences form queueing up (especially at that same store) have left be scared (and abused). Last time I queued was for the Xbox 360, not on the launch day. Vigin had this sale were 360’s were selling for £99. Well I joined an already forming queue with my fellow geeks, there were some other type of folk on the queue too. We got in only to realise that the sale only applied to 5 items only, really they only had 5 or so Xbox’s for £99. People were shouting and throwing abuse at any body in a virgin uniform they could find (now I know why managers never wear their shops colours) for pulling one over their heads.
Anyway I’m going to get Zelda, Red Steel, Rayman Raving Rabbits, wii play for the extra wii-mote, and maybe splinter cell double agent.

… here obviously. Apple which I’m beginning to love like Google took pot shots at Microsoft. I personally don’t think Microsoft deserved it, mainly because it’s like kicking them while they are down. But many would argue otherwise.
Anyhow I think my next laptop might be a mac especially since think secret reports that apple plans to release the Core 2 Duo versions come mid September. The new Intel chips are blazing fast + they are dual core.

Been working hard lately. Work is not as challenging but I’m still standing on my toes.
Anyway I decided to take some time off work and intend to chill at home all week doing stuff that should have been done a while ago like shopping. Yes guys do take shopping breaks too.
The folks at Tokyo flash have a very exclusive collection of Japanese Wrist Watches. The stuff there cannot be found anywhere (so the say). The convinced me anyway, I just purchased a time piece from them. We’ll see how this goes.
DMX has a new Album (Year of the Dog … Again) in stores. Head over to itunes to purchase this great work.
My sis came back from Hong Kong with a lot of interesting stories. I advised her to watch lost in translation, which she has since refused.

I’ve been away again and unlike Robert Scoble who got an Xbox 360, I was only able to get a plain old Xbox. I really want an Xbox 360, but was not ready to wait for the shops to stock one and pay £300, so I checked ebay. After searching through i could not find one that fit within my flimpsy budget so I decided to just get a plain old Xbox, I’ve always wanted one to add to my collection. The thing about this Xbox was that it was modified, a mod chip was put into the Xbox so I could stream media from my server and watch ot on the TV and not on my laptop as usual. Took me the whole of saturday to get the darn chip to work, but eventually I loaded the new dashboard called Xbox media center (XBMC). It’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen, and solves many of my problems. I live in life 2.0 where everything has to be digital (I have been digitising my DVD’s and CD’s), try it out (at your own risk)

Because of my geographical location I’m not allowed to access content in the states. I have minor issues with that because there are workarounds, but that is the kind of stuff that grinds my gears. But Movielink sucks for charging $29.99 for a movie which you download, can only watch on 3 computers and not allowed to burn onto DVD. Joblo.com has very interesting story about how Movielink sucks.
Being more productive April 27, 2006

Google blog highlight's some problems that most geeks and computer users alike would suffer as we begin to spend more time using computers.
A growing trend is that we tend to spend more and more time online and less time exercising, eventually we become unproductive. However you may think this is not true, if you don't it's most likely because you probably have not exercised in the last hour or your brain is fooled into thinking that it is actually doing something productive. A couple of posts away I said this was going to be a problem even in my own life. I am going to try one more time to see if spending too much time online actually makes me unproductive, also I need to start revising for my final exams and see the Internet as a potential distraction.
Because it is now possible to watch CNN and even the apprentice on the web while reading news, less time is actually spent with family and friends. I know this is geek-ish and not everybody is entertained as such but the problem is isolation. A Stanford research supports this theory (which I dubbed Life 2.0, full theory coming soon).
Starting tomorrow I'll spend just 3 hours online this should add up to 15 hours a week, just above the average Internet use time.
