Happy New Year.
Was doing some work recently, and I suddenly lost motivation when I realized this was going to be very challenging. So I decided to take a break and started flipping through my old work then books then emails then and even text messages.
I found this picture:

When the going gets though the though get going
This mousy, probably even got hurt a few times trying to get the cheese. But see he’s back prepared with a helmet.
When I saw this I laughed, then I realized that even though I did not feel I could solve the challenge the first time, at least I will have eliminated one possibility.
Along with strength from the Lord, this quote by Thomas Edison summaries how I intend to tackle challenges this year:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

The innovation train is ready to roll June 1, 2008

Over the past few months a lot has happened in my life let alone the world.
Where do I start …
I have since graduated from university and now work full time, at the moment. My instincts are to stay put for now.
Behind the scenes the innovation train has been loading up, and now honking for the gates to be open … Within the next few months expect a lot of blogging about this. Remind me if I forget.
In the world, we’ve seen and are currently experiencing a credit crunch. I’ve noticed that my money has less bang for the buck.
Please welcome me back with this short rant.
Regards

Sony and Yahoo down and out? June 19, 2007

2 very important companies loosing top people this week. First yahoo dumps it’s CEO and going to the basics. Then Sony’s father of the playstation is getting the boot (though a very covert).
In the case of Yahoo one can understand why, stocks are dipping and Google has overtaken and left them in the dust. Jerry Yang one of the co founders of Yahoo is back at the helm, Stocks are currently up. Ken Kutaragi for those who don’t know is the father of the playstation, some months back was demoted and finally today was sacked with style. Ken I believe actually lost the plot long time with the PS3, which caused Sony to loose of 60% of it’s income. I’m not going to spell out the issues with the PS3 but it’s a bold move by Mr. Stringer.

It’s about time I updated my blog.
Been away writing exams, finished that now waiting for my results which if I pass then I become an Electronics and Electrical Engineer.
A lot has happened in tech. Nigeria with the help of China just launched a satellite into space, don’t know the exact sat type but heard it’s a comms sat that would be controlled from the capital Abuja, a lot of potential for investors to capitalise on the stability of the Nigerian economy and govt.
The US senate on numerous occasions took hearings about the net neutrality issue.
Google has revamped it’s start page, plus tweaked the search engine.A notable feature is the ability to search within YouTube videos. Speaking of YouTube Scoble blogged about the importance of YouTube to google and how it is paying off, for $1.6 billion Google got a bargain. the next US presidential debate is going to be broadcast on YouTube.
Also Google is buying out it’s rivals in the online ads business.
Finally the new Apple iphone is scheduled for release on 29 June in the states. I wonder when and if it would reach UK shores.
One more thing I take up a position in the IT department at Credit Suisse.
Why Apple, and not Microsoft for Nintendo November 12, 2006

Following my last post here. One comment I received moved me to post this response:
Comment:
I think Microsoft will attempt the purchase…. not Apple. It will be a very smart move for chairman Bill and Co. they will take the market lead in the video games market (especially in Japan) and crush Sony in the process….. just imagine Mario, Link and the Masterchief getting drunk together….
Least we forget that microsoft have invested too much money into the xbox. Also buying Nintendo would be too expensive for them (not that the don’t have the cash), because the two companies have different agenda’s, (no synergy). Nintendo makes games and have voiced that all along while Microsoft is a software company that was forced into console gaming due to market conditions, (basicallybrb, cramps
Microsoft would defend anything they think is a threat to their business). I believe Microsofts long term aim is to use Xbox Live like an itunes platform, basically hitting Apple where they defend.
Apple like Microsoft make computers but differ since: one – they don’t have a gaming unit yet! Two – have not been forced by the market to make games yet, this is why even apple have not really bothered pitching their products to gamers like Microsoft have. Three – Apple have been able to carve out the Music business for themselves and can use this to leverage their other non ipod products. This is really the way business might be done in the future.
On buying Nintendo, my belief is Nintendo’s products look like Apple’s, their ideology match Apple’s. Apple needs to be able to defend Microsoft on the gaming front. because XBOX live is a threat to there itunes service.
Apple and Nintendo a perfect match … October 15, 2006

Word on the street is that if the Nintendo Wii sells as predicted then another acquisition is in the pipeline. Apple might attempt to purchase Nintendo.

Google Acquires YouTube October 15, 2006

Google is annoucing that it has offically acquired YouTube, more here.
in my last post I talked about the copyright infringiing issues that may follow the acquisition. While I am officailly on the fence on this one I have spent the last week pondering the ramifications and realised that contrary thinking may prevail. What I’m saying here is that while majority of the crowd focuses on the negatives plus the fact that these are desperate times (as Charlie Robinson says) especially those trying to get into
Yet it does’nt look too good for HP … September 30, 2006

It’s becoming pretty clear how HP spied on it’s employees and reporters. Cnet is reporting that some of the methods used to snoop on employees and alleged reporters included wiretapping. I’m not surprised mainly because it is not unnatural for firms to read and constantly monitor messages.
It’s a big bomb shell that threatens to disrupt Mark Hurd’s regrouping empire.
