Cnet is reporting that the US senate just voted 20 – 13 in favour of the Net neutrality bill. This is good news. If the bill should actually become a law then it would become a crime for ISP’s to deliberately put net work traffic in the slow lane. The web is a lawless and free place which is the way we like it.

Exam's are finally over and it's time to reflect and just relax. It's impossible to say how much these exams has redefined my life. This exam experience has not been a smooth ride for me. But only time time will tell as I wait for my results – it sucks.

Dude! Spaced out.

One giant step for digital media May 9, 2006

This month has barely began and it's set to be the month that most people ,me included, would remember as the turning point for digital media distribution. Warner bros. has agreed to to start distributing movies etc using bittorent. It's like America and Britain saying that the are officially pulling out of Iraq tomorrow. Warner bros. like other Hollywood studios have been fighting bittorent especially the trackers for some time. It's definitely a step in the right direction. However it remains to be seen what the revenue generating model would be, i.e how they intend to charge and even collect cash. One way is allowing people to download the DRM'ed copy and require that downloaders purchase a key to actually watch or listen to the movie or song.

If you read my post on may 5 then you would have realised that I can't seem to stay away from the inter-web. This pic just had to be posted:

It's in the name.

There's a story behind this shot (XDA 2s camera shot) which I'll write about after my exams.

If like me you absolutely love the Davinchi code, then you would love Google's "The Davinchi code quest". So far the hardest one was on May 2nd. Try it out here, note you would need a Google account.

Life 2.0: Everything is better digital May 5, 2006

I’ve been away again and unlike Robert Scoble who got an Xbox 360, I was only able to get a plain old Xbox. I really want an Xbox 360, but was not ready to wait for the shops to stock one and pay £300, so I checked ebay. After searching through i could not find one that fit within my flimpsy budget so I decided to just get a plain old Xbox, I’ve always wanted one to add to my collection. The thing about this Xbox was that it was modified, a mod chip was put into the Xbox so I could stream media from my server and watch ot on the TV and not on my laptop as usual. Took me the whole of saturday to get the darn chip to work, but eventually I loaded the new dashboard called Xbox media center (XBMC). It’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen, and solves many of my problems. I live in life 2.0 where everything has to be digital (I have been digitising my DVD’s and CD’s), try it out (at your own risk)
